Guess Who?

I begin this blog with a question: Guess Who?

Hint: This man is famous. He's 63 years old, ten years younger than me. He's also Canadian, born in Newmarket. And slapstick funny. Can you guess who he is?

If I told you he once rented a house from my Dad in Jackson's Point — the very house I would later move into with my family — would you believe me? He used to go across the lane to my grandparents' home and do comedic performances for them, making them laugh until they almost burst. My grandfather actually said to him, "you'll be famous one day." Can you guess now?

That's right — Jim Carrey! His family were going through difficult times financially, and when I later needed a place to live as a single parent with my three children, my Dad kindly arranged for Jim's family to move on so we could move in.

I never did get to meet the man — but I love this story. Because he DID become famous, just as my grandfather predicted!

My partner Wally, who loves this story as much as I do, recently tracked down Jim's address and sent him a copy of RESCUED. We haven't heard back yet — but who knows? Maybe one day our paths will cross. After all, we're practically neighbours in Canadian history! 😊
